Hiring landscape in the country is showing signs of improvement as
recruitment activity registered 20 per cent rise in July, led by the IT
and BPO sector.
The Naukri Job Speak Index for the month under
review stood at 1,649, up 20 per cent compared to July 2013. Monthly
comparison also shows a growth of 5 per cent in hiring activity,
compared to June 2014.
According to the leading job portal,
employment scenario in the country is likely to improve further and
especially in sectors like IT and Services.
"Hiring activity is
slowly bouncing back. We expect the hiring landscape to improve in the
coming six months especially in sectors like IT and Services which
continue to create most of the jobs in the country," Info Edge (India)
Ltd, which owns job portal Naukri.Com, Managing Director and CEO Hitesh
Oberoi said.
An industry-wise analysis shows that sectors like IT
and BPO, banking and telecom have seen significant uptrend in July over
the same month a year ago. However, other sectors like oil & gas
and insurance faced headwinds during July.
The report noted that
demand for professionals working in IT and BPO saw maximum growth,
followed by professionals in HR and Accounts & Finance and persons
seeking employment in Marketing & Advertising.
Amongst
cities, Pune saw 31 per cent growth in hiring in July 2014 over July
2013. Hyderabad and Chennai has seen a growth of 27 per cent each while
Delhi NCR and Bangalore has seen a growth of 25 per cent each in the
same period.
"Mumbai and Kolkata have seen a growth of 17 per cent and 5 per cent respectively in July 2014 over July 2013," Naukri.com said.
